Vakulenko had disappeared from the town of Kapitolivka, near Izyum, in March this year.

The writer's parents have been looking for their son for more than six months.

It later became known that the Russian occupiers had kidnapped him.

The mother, Olena, was able to find out the whereabouts of the 'kidnappers' and she presented herself to the occupying Russian military administration demanding that her son be released.

Subsequently, he received information that Volodymyr was being taken out of Ukraine.

After the Kiev troops liberated Izyum, a mass burial site was discovered in the city.

More than four hundred bodies were found in early September.

Burials were carried out by the local funeral service, which also kept a diary with information about the deceased persons.

Suspilne reporters found a photo of Vakulenko's body, with the number 319, taken before the burial.
