In a train accident on the route near Halle-Ammendorf, one person died at the scene of the accident on Friday night.
Three other railway employees were injured, according to the federal police.
The accident reportedly happened around 3 a.m.
A police spokeswoman has not yet been able to say why the railway employees were on the tracks and how exactly the incident happened.
According to the information, a locomotive had captured the four workers.

As the "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" reports, several track workers were cared for on site by a pastor.
In the early morning it was snowing heavily.
The railway line was closed to traffic.
The train reported delays between Halle and Erfurt on its website in the morning.
ICE trains would be diverted in both directions and delayed by about 30 minutes, it said.
