From the first investigations,

the origin of the attack on the car of the councilor of the Italian embassy in Athens Susanna Schlein

, sister of the exponent of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein,

"is anarchist"

.

This is what was reported by the Minister for Citizens' Security

Panagiotis Theodorikakos

to the Italian Interior Minister

Matteo Piantedosi

in a "cordial and constructive" telephone conversation that took place in the morning.

The Interior Ministry reports it.

Greece has ordered

"enhanced surveillance"

to the offices of the Italian diplomatic authorities after the arson attack on the car of embassy adviser Susanna Schlein, said Minister Theodorikakos assuring the "strong commitment" of the Greek authorities to identify as soon as possible and bring to justice the perpetrators of the attack .

"My family is still very shaken by the terrible risk we ran last night. It was completely unexpected. Now we must look ahead and not be afraid

, relying on the action of the Italian and Greek judiciary to identify those responsible".

This was stated by the first councilor of the Italian Embassy in Athens, Susanna Schlein.

"I have received many certificates of solidarity. First of all, I would like to thank Prime Minister Meloni and Vice-President Tajani, with whom I had the opportunity to speak here in Athens, as well as all my colleagues at the Farnesina and the people who have expressed their closeness to me".

Greek police investigate.

The attack would have occurred around four in the morning: the car was parked near an apartment building, and was completely destroyed after being set on fire.

Authorities located a Molotov cocktail with a half-expended fuse nearby.

Eighteen firefighters attended the scene, while the fire was about to cause damage to another car of the diplomat.

The Rome prosecutor's office has opened an investigation file

in relation to the attack.

The Capitoline magistrates are awaiting the first information to register the file but it is not excluded that an attack will be carried out for terrorist purposes.

Susanna Schlein "

is miraculously saved

because luckily the Molotov cocktail placed under the car near the gas plant which is under her family's bedroom did not explode", said Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

"It's probably an attack of anarchist origin like there have been others," he added.

"I came here to the Embassy to convey my solidarity and that of the government to Councilor Schlein, who was the victim of this brutal attack. Luckily there were no victims and she is saved by a miracle, but her presence at the embassy reassured me , I found her serene", said Minister Tajani from Athens, adding: "We are close to her and her family, I thanked our diplomats who have shown great seriousness and determination in a difficult moment".

The Farnesina condemns

with the utmost firmness the serious criminal act committed in Athens against the First Councilor Susanna Schlein and her family.

Awakened by a few barrels in rapid succession, Schlein noticed the attempt to set fire to a second car nearby which a Molotov cocktail was found with a half-exhausted fuse.

The police are carrying out the necessary scientific and investigative surveys.

The Farnesina expresses closeness and utmost solidarity with Susanna Schlein and her family.

"

I express my personal closeness and that of the Government

Italian to the First Counselor of the Italian Embassy in Athens, Susanna Schlein, and the deep concern for the attack that hit her, probably of anarchist origin.

I am following the story with the utmost attention, also through Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who is visiting Athens today". This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a note.
