Stiftung Warentest tested nine food processors - from the 100-euro model to the expensive 900-euro helper, all models have strengths and weaknesses.
Here we will show you what is important when making a purchase.
Munich - Basically they are all-rounders.
Food processors can knead or stir dough, whip cream, chop almonds, grate vegetables and even mix smoothies.
But this diversity alone is not enough.
The devices must also be safe to use, work quietly and also have a longer service life.
The modern housewife and also the modern househusband are demanding.
After all, many of these multifunctional kitchen appliances usually cost several hundred euros in stores.
The testers from Stiftung Warentest examined nine such all-rounders in the laboratory.
Three of the test machines are so-called food processors.
This means that their drive protrudes into the bowl from below and is not placed on top of the device.
They stand out because of their compactness.
However, they do not have a swivel arm like the classic food processors.
The other six test models are such classics.
Their bowls, with a capacity of three to seven liters, hold on average about twice as much mass as the containers used in food processors.
Kitchen appliances for kneading, mixing and chopping - these all-rounders are already available in stores from 100 euros.

These are the test winners, the first three devices are the classics, the machine from Bosch is a food processor:

Kitchen appliances in the test: the winner is a Lidl appliance, while the branded appliances from Bosch, Krups, Kenwood and Philips come away with "satisfactory".
Not Bosch, not WMF, Krups, Kenwood, or Smeg won the classic food processors with swivel arm - but
Lidl's own brand Silvercrest
.
The SKMP 1300 D3 is not only the best machine in the test, but also the cheapest alternative in the consumer protection test laboratory at around 100 euros.
According to the tester, it kneads both light and heavy sponge and yeast dough well.
Mixes and purees excellently and whips up cream so fluffy that no competing device can keep up with it here.
It has a large bowl with a capacity of 6.3 liters.
In addition, the machine convinces with long work at a time without overheating.
It is easy to use, which is mainly due to the fact that it offers few functions.
These criteria were checked in the test laboratory:
Functions of the devices, versatility, handling, durability, noise
and
safety
that the kitchen gadgets offer.
Six kitchen classics and three food processors were examined for their advantages and disadvantages when whipping cream, kneading dough or cutting vegetables.
The Stiftung Warentest gave a bad rating, for example, if coarse pieces remained after chopping the almonds or carrots.
In addition,
five years of use
was simulated in a laboratory test.
The
extra costs for the accessories
are also included in the evaluation .
But the
noise development
also played a role in the test.

The only disadvantage is that it cannot do more than knead, mix, mix and beat, according to the consumer protection test laboratory.
When hacking, however, it is rather difficult to notice.
But if you are looking for help with baking in the kitchen, the device from Lidl is a good choice.
These four kitchen helpers got away with "satisfying" in the test:
Bosch Mum Series 2 MUM S2ER01 (156 euros plus accessories)
Krups Master Perfect Gourmet KA631D (325 euros)
Kenwood Titanium Chef Patissier XL KWL90.244SI (850 euros plus accessories)
Philips Viva Collection HR7510 (104 euros)
Only the
KitchenAid Artisan
appliance failed the test with a “
poor
”.
She cannot convince the testers with the standard tasks as a kitchen helper.
In addition, it overheats very quickly and has to cool down again before you can continue kneading the dough.
Kitchen helpers in the laboratory test: alternative to the food processor
The test of the nine devices proves that a good food processor does not have to be expensive.
However, if you value extras and attachments, you should invest in a slightly more expensive model.
These are also available in stores for between 150 and 250 euros.
And if you only need a blender for a creamy mayonnaise or for whipping cream, invest in a hand blender at best.
But beware: These devices also have their price.
