For Russia, the US must recognize the recently annexed Ukrainian regions as territory of the Federation. In yesterday's meeting between Biden and Macron there was also talk of an international conference in Paris on December 13 to collect aid for Kiev and not of a peace conference as erroneously said at first (ANSA)

Russian President Vladimir Putin remains

'open to talks to secure Russia's interests'

, explained Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, because Moscow 'considers the peaceful diplomatic route to be the preferable way to achieve its objectives'.

But for Russia, it is impossible to accept the condition set by US President Joe Biden for negotiations on Ukraine, i.e. that Moscow's troops first leave Ukrainian territory.

This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov quoted by the RIA Novosti agency.

According to the Kremlin, the preferred way to resolve the situation in Ukraine is diplomacy, but the United States must recognize the recently annexed Ukrainian regions as territory of the Federation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin,

in a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

, called Russia's missile attacks on Ukraine "a forced and inevitable response to Kyiv's provocative attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure, including the Crimean bridge and facilities energy,” the Kremlin reported, quoted by Tass.

On the phone with the German chancellor,

the Russian president described the line of Western countries in Ukraine as "destructive" by

accusing them of weapons supplied to the Ukrainian army.

This was reported by the Kremlin taken up by Tass.

“Attention has been drawn to the destructive line of Western states, including Germany, which have beefed up the Kiev regime with weapons, trained the Ukrainian army,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

And according to Moscow, Western support is encouraging Kiev to refuse negotiations.

For his part, reports Berlin, the German chancellor urged the Russian president to withdraw troops to allow for a diplomatic solution, condemning Russian air strikes against civilian infrastructure in Ukraine and underlining Germany's determination to support Ukraine in ensuring its defense capability.

Scholz then asked Putin to find "as soon as possible" a "diplomatic solution", which includes the "withdrawal of Russian troops".

Biden yesterday opened up the possibility of speaking with Putin, provided he shows "signs of wanting to end the war", for possible negotiations on Ukraine. And in the meeting with Macron, there was also talk of an international conference in Paris on December 13 to collect aid for Kiev

and not as erroneously told of a peace conference.
