New York recently suffered a hearty defeat.

According to a ranking, the rattiest city in the USA is Chicago and not the Big Apple.

The rodent plague in New York (2nd place) is still huge - and the city administration is fighting against it even at the price of slipping further down in this negative hit list.

She is currently looking for a senior pied piper.

"Do you have what it takes to do the impossible?" begins the ad, seeking an applicant with a passion for vermin and the "necessary killer instinct" to fight the "real enemy - the relentless rat population."

»Generally hard-hitting aura« required

"Rats will hate this job offer," says the advertisement.

We are looking for someone with a bachelor's degree and several years of professional experience in urban planning, among other things.

Mastery of several computer programs and a »generally tough aura« are also required.

The chosen one would get up to $170,000 a year for his work as chief rat fighter, as head of the “Rat Pack”.

Relocation to the city within 90 days of appointment is required.

The many rats have long been considered a major problem in the metropolis of New York.

"Rodents spread diseases, damage houses and pipes," says the administration.

They even tried to mimic the movements of the kitchen staff.

Nevertheless, the authorities are combative.

"New York City's rats are wily, ravenous and productive, they're legendary for their survival skills, but they don't rule this city - we do."
