With the latest adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel David Copperfield, the ARD media library currently has a modern film version that breaks with the previous, classic versions and is a highlight worth seeing for fans of historical material.
Charles Dickens is undoubtedly one of the most influential writers in Victorian England and with his novels "Oliver Twist", "A Christmas Carol" and "David Copperfield" he created timeless masterpieces that are still very popular today.
The latter work of the author certainly played a prominent role in his life, because in his masterpiece David Copperfield or the Personal History, Adventures, Experience and Observation of David Copperfield the Younger of Blunderstone Rookery (Which He Never Meant to Publish on Any Account )” incorporated numerous autobiographical details.
The brutal stepfather, the tough years as a label sticker in a wine shop, the ever-indebted Mr. Micawber (an analogy to his father), his love for Dora, whose real name was Maria Beadnell - all of these episodes in the novel are based on true events.
From December 2nd, you can find out more about this in "The Personal History of David Copperfield" in the ARD media library.
