(ANSA) - NAIROBI, DECEMBER 04 - The commander of the separatist rebel forces in Tigray fighting against the government of Ethiopia has announced that 65% of their fighters have been withdrawn.
"We have begun the withdrawal and redeployment of our forces from the front lines," said the chief of staff of the Popular Front for the Liberation of the Tiger (TPLF), Tadesse Worede.
"65% of the fighters have been moved from the front to new postlors designated," he added.
The agreement for a ceasefire between Addis Ababa and the TPLF rebels was reached last November 2 in Pretoria, South Africa, at a negotiating table under the aegis of the African Union (AU).
