, I would like to address a grateful thought to all the Firefighters, interpreting the sentiments of esteem and gratitude of the entire community".
This was stated by the President of the Republic,
Sergio Mattarella
, in a message sent to the Head of the Fire Brigade, Public Rescue and Civil Defense Department, Prefect Laura Lega, in which he underlined that the Fire Brigade "constitutes an asset for the benefit of the Village".
"In delicate emergency scenarios and in public aid interventions - writes Mattarella - the women and men of the Corps have always represented a solid garrison to protect the safety of people and the integrity of property, giving concrete implementation to the principles of solidarity that inspire the Constitutional Charter, as evidenced by the commitment on the occasion of the recent calamitous events in Ischia".
"The spirit of service that characterizes the vocation of the National Corps, constituting its distinctive trait - continues the message - was also testified by the significant contribution offered by the Corps during the pandemic period, for which the Gold Medal was awarded to the Flag to Civil Valor".
"The qualities of humanity and self-sacrifice of the Fire Brigade, permanent and voluntary, as well as the accurate professionalism - - writes the Head of State - constitute an asset to the benefit of the country. The activity of the specialist components, among including that of the groups of divers, whose seventieth anniversary is being celebrated this year".
"The action of the Corps, as well as in the emergency - - adds Mattarella -, is also positively characterized by the diffusion of the culture of safety and risk prevention in the workplace, as well as for the protection of the historical-artistic heritage and for the competition in the fight against forest fires, together with the other components of the Civil Protection system".
"In remembering in this circumstance those who have lost their lives in the fulfillment of their duty, I address a cordial greeting to all the members of the National Corps, to the groups of volunteers, to their families, with best wishes for a happy holiday", concludes the President of the Republic.
