Michele Placido was awarded the "Master of Cinematic Art" prize of the 27th 'Capri, Hollywood - The International Film Festival', starting on December 26th.
The recognition, announced by the US producer Mark Canton (of the honorary board of the event) will be delivered to the director and actor at the Mercadante theater in Naples, on the final evening of 2 January 2023.
"A 50-year career, from cinema to theater: Michele Placido is an authentic pillar of Italian art in the world - declares Toni Lorusso Petruzzi, president of the Capri Institute in the world - he is the protagonist of the season in theaters: director with large production 'The shadow of Caravaggio' and extraordinary interpreter of 'Orlando' directed by Daniele Vicari.The prize for the masters of cinematographic art attributed to him by our board adds to the one already announced to the director Liliana Cavani, two very great personalities that we will have the pleasure to celebrate on the stage of the prestigious National Theater of Naples directed by Roberto Andò".
In the past edition, the "Master of Cinematic Art" went to the three-time Oscar winners Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo, to Pupi Avati and Toni Servillo.
Honorary presidents of the Capri Institute in the world are Tony Renis and the Israeli artist Noa.
Among the awards already announced: best film and best European cast for "Nostalgia" by Mario Martone (nominated by Italy for the Oscar for best foreign film), best cast of the year for "Black Panther - Wakanda Forever" by Ryan Coogler, Italian-American award of the year to actor Frank Grillo for "Lamborghini - The Man Behind The Legend" (top of the charts on US digital platforms).
From 26 December, as tradition, Capri, Hollywood will open the season of international awards bringing to the blue island and the Gulf of Naples protagonists of world showbiz and great Italian cinema, previews and reviews open to the public with the support of the DG Cinema and Audiovisual of the MiC and the Campania Region together with Intesa Sanpaolo, Terna, Givova, Rs Productions.
