Be careful at the breakfast table!

A product is currently being recalled, which often ends up in muesli or yoghurt.

Dortmund – A product that is often used at breakfast but is also increasingly used in the kitchen is currently being recalled.

Tigernuts should be viewed critically before consumption.

Recall of breakfast product due to salmonella: infection is not something to be trifled with

Tigernuts taste nutty, but they are actually a shell fruit.

This makes them a good alternative to real nuts, especially for people who are allergic to nuts.

This can be used to spice up muesli, for example, but it also brings a nutty note to pastries or bread.

However, consumers should be more careful with tigernut flakes from the “Werz Naturkornmühle GmbH & Co KG” brand, as RUHR24 reports.

Because the organic product can be contaminated with salmonella.

Here are the details:

Recall of tigernuts because of salmonella: Manufacturer only provides brief information

In the recall campaign, the manufacturer announced that salmonella was found in the tigernuts.

It also states that customers can return the affected tigernuts to the sales outlets without presenting the receipt.

The purchase price will be refunded.

However, the company is stingy with further information about the recall.

It is unclear in which markets the product was sold at all, and the company does not explicitly advise against eating tigernuts contaminated with salmonella.

A photo of the product was not published either.

Recent Salmonella Recall: Product sold nationwide

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) at least announces that the tigernuts were sold nationwide.

So people from all federal states should check their stocks of tigernuts.

Salmonella is always the reason for recalls.

If there is a suspicion of contamination with salmonella, consumers should keep their hands off the product.

Because a salmonella infection is not something to be trifled with.

Tigernuts can be used in many ways - but one product is affected by a recall.

Recall: Salmonella infection particularly dangerous for children and the elderly

An infection with Salmonella is manifested by nausea, possibly vomiting, abdominal pain, fever and diarrhea.

According to the BVL, the symptoms can last for several days.

But still: In most cases, the disease heals on its own without medical treatment.

But an infection can be very dangerous, especially in older people and small children: the diarrhea can lead to life-threatening dehydration of the body.

In this case, a doctor must be consulted.
