(by Bianca Maria Manfredi) (ANSA) - MILAN, 04 DEC - The controversy over La Scala's decision to open the season on 7 December with a Russian title, Boris Godunov, despite the ongoing war with Ukraine, at least not the more than two thousand under 30s who attend the youth preview on 4 December.
"At first I had a critical attitude, then I listened to the presentation conference and Chailly explained the reasons I share", says Giacomo Quaglia who at 19 is now a regular at the previews of La Scala where this year he also brought his older sister.
In short, one cannot censor "a work for the nationality of the composer or for the current situation".
"I understand the controversy, but culture is culture" adds Davide,
21-year-old Economics student who arrived from Turin with two friends to try the Scala experience.
"I had seen that there was the possibility of coming and it is a way of bringing young people closer to this world" he adds.
Not only did the approximately two thousand tickets for this preview and for that of the Nutcracker which will open the ballet season immediately sell out, but "at the moment there are a thousand subscriptions to the under 30 season - explains the marketing manager of the theater Lanfranco Li Cauli - and for the first time we have extended the initiatives to the under 35s, who will be able to see the shows from a stage dedicated to them or participate in the under 35s on Thursdays with discounted prices, almost 50% discount and cocktails".
