According to the forecast, inflation will also hit hard in 2023.

As a result, prices are rising in the leisure sector right through to consumption.

This list shows where the price increases are coming from:

After the last few months at the latest, rising prices in all areas are no longer a big surprise.

A look at the forecast for the inflation rate in Germany shows that 2023 will also be expensive.

This year, the inflation rate is still at 8.8 percent.

That is 0.4 percent more than this year.

Since inflation will continue at the turn of the year, HEIDELBERG24 has compiled a list of price increases that consumers can prepare for:

  • tobacco tax

  • energy

  • health insurance companies

  • air fares

  • Netflix

  • Food

  • dress

  • Books

  • Cycles

2023 will be more expensive: tobacco tax and energy

What smokers should already be aware of is that tobacco tax will already increase in Germany on January 1, 2023.

Above all, the tobacco companies are affected by the tax, but they usually pass this on to customers in the form of price increases.

A pack of cigarettes will therefore cost around 10 cents more.

Over the years, the price of a pack of cigarettes is to be gradually increased by 8 cents per year from 2022 to 2026.

Whether there will be tobacco supply bottlenecks again, like last summer, is still open.

Energy prices will not flatten out again due to inflation and the war in Ukraine.

On the contrary: Energy prices will continue to rise even in 2023.

It is already difficult for many households to pay their electricity bills.

Currently, consumers are to be relieved by so-called price brakes for electricity.

But one thing is certain: the energy price increases will reach most consumers by 2023 at the latest.

To relieve the burden, there is the energy flat rate, if you have not yet received it, you can still apply for it.

2023 an expensive year: health insurance companies and flight prices

Statutory health insurance companies can increase their additional contributions from January 2023, which should surprise many consumers when they look at their payslips at the beginning of the year.

The payments should now be as high as never before.

According to Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach's "savings law", an increase of 0.3 percentage points is planned.

Particularly nasty here: The health insurance companies do not have to inform their policyholders in advance about the price increases.

In contrast to previous years, anyone who wants to travel by air in 2023 will have to dig deeper into their pockets.

According to the ADAC, certain airlines are increasing their fares particularly sharply.

Consumers can expect an increase of up to 46 percent compared to 2022.

When comparing the years 2021 to 2023, the prices of some airlines will even double.

Flights with Lufthansa and Swiss International Air Lines will be particularly expensive, while the Turkish low-cost airline Pegasus is said to be cheaper.

Expensive year 2023: Netflix prices are also rising

The Netflix streaming service is also set to become more expensive.

This is mainly true for those who join an account across different households.

With Netflix there is the option to have a "family account" with up to five profiles in the premium subscription, but everyone has to live in one household.

So far, at least, they have adhered to this regulation and Netflix has announced that it will control account sharing in Central Europe more strictly from spring 2023.

Anyone who then continues to share an account across several households and is caught doing so must either create their own account or create a "sub-account" for an additional charge.

2023 will be expensive: food and clothing

Consumers will have noticed in recent months that food and drugstore prices have risen.

Here, too, prices are expected to continue to rise in 2023.

This is said to be due to rising energy prices, inflation, the Ukraine war and rising commodity prices.

Above all, supermarket customers should continue to watch out for hidden price increases.

For example, when the prices of items remain the same, but the contents of the pack are smaller.

There should also be price increases at large clothing chains such as H&M, Zara or C&A.

According to the news portal "Focus", the main reason for the price increase is the increased price for raw materials that the fashion trade needs to manufacture the garments.

Manufacturers also need the extra money to pay for the higher costs of electricity, transport and storage.

2023 an expensive year: prices for books and bicycles are also rising

So far, book prices have remained stable despite rising paper prices.

But this too will change at the turn of the year.

At Christmas, books can still be purchased at their previous prices, since the autumn titles have long since appeared and the publishers are going into the Christmas business with them.

However, the books will also become more expensive in the new year due to paper prices.

Bicycle and e-bike manufacturers are also having to raise their prices as direct production costs have risen.

Some bicycle parts have to be bought more expensively than before and temporary failures have to be compensated for at short notice.

For example, a price increase of up to 15 percent can be seen in manufacturer lists for 2023 and that for the same bike model as in 2022. (rah)
