The paramilitary body of the "basij, the police and the security forces will not hesitate to deal harshly with the rioters, armed criminals and terrorists who have been hired by the enemies".

This can be read in a statement

by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards while the first of a three-day strike called by activists as part of the anti-government protests that have been going on for almost three months in the country is underway in many cities of the country.

"After the defeat of the new sedition, created by the enemies, the holy system of the Islamic Republic will vigorously continue to realize its cause and defeat the united front of the enemies," the statement read.

In recent months there have already been harsh clashes between the security forces and demonstrators who took to the streets in various Iranian cities after the death of Mahsa Amini, the 22-year-old who lost her life after being arrested for not wearing the veil correctly.

According to data from the agency of Iranian human rights activists Hrana,

since the demonstrations began, at least 471 people have lost their lives in the clashes, including 64 minors and 61 members of the security forces, while over 18 thousand have been arrested.

The strike was carried out in the capital Tehran but also in Sanandaj, Isfahan, Bushehr, Shiraz, Kerman, Ardebil, Mahabad, Orumiyeh, Kermanshah and other cities.

The strikes also involved truck drivers and some workers at the petrochemical plants in Mahshahr and the steel mills in Isfahan.

Demonstrations and boycotts of lessons were also seen in various Iranian universities, two days after December 7, when "student day" is celebrated in Iran and President Ebrahim Raisi plans to give a speech in one of the universities of the Village.

"The rioters, sentenced to death for 'Muharebeh' or 'Fesad fel arz'

('War against God and Corruption on Earth', two counts of Iranian Islamic law)

will be hanged soon

": The head of the judiciary said Iranian Gholamhossein Ejei, according to IRNA reports, referring to a group of people arrested during protests after the death of Mahsa Amini.

"Some other long-term prison sentences have also been handed down," he added, warning that those who provoke a popular uprising or encourage others to strike will soon be summoned.

"Nothing indicates" that the situation of women in Iran will improve after the unexpected announcement of the abolition of the morality police.

This was stated by a spokesman for the US State Department.

"Unfortunately, there is no evidence that Iranian leaders are improving the way they treat women and girls or stopping the violence they inflict on peaceful protesters," the spokesman said, refusing to "comment ambiguous or vague statements" by Iranian power.
