(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 05 - The last "Sunday at the Museum" of 2022 ends with a success.
The initiative of the Ministry of Culture which allows free admission, every first Sunday of the month, to state museums and archaeological parks, confirms the increasing trend in the number of visitors also in this December appointment, despite the bad weather.
The new year will begin under the banner of culture with the free opening of "Sunday at the museum" on 1 January, an exception to the usual closure on New Year's Day of all national and international museums.
"The initiatives that promote knowledge of the cultural heritage develop awareness of this immense mine and of our identity value and contribute to the formation of a cohesive society - comments the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano - The MiC provides other innovations for citizens and tourists who during the holidays wish to enjoy the beauty of our nation's cultural heritage, such as the extraordinary openings on Monday 26 December 2022 and 2 January 2023, with paid admission and, where provided for by the access procedures of the individual institution, by reservation".
These are the results of December 4th.
The Colosseum exceeds 16,000 visits;
followed by Pompeii (about 9,800), the Uffizi (over 8,000), Castel Sant'Angelo (more than 7,000).
Excellent results also for Castel Sant'Elmo (Naples) and the Royal Palace of Caserta, with over 6,000 visitors.
The Royal Palace of Naples, the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence, Palazzo Pitti, the Royal Museums of Turin, the Boboli Gardens, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and the National Galleries of Ancient Art in Rome record more than 5,000 visitors.
Also noteworthy are Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana, the National Museum of Villa Giulia (Rome), the Bargello Museums (Florence), the Certosa di San Martino (Naples), the Veliae Paestum Park (Sa), the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, the Estensi Galleries (Ferrara), the National Gallery of the Marche (Urbino), the National Gallery of Umbria (Perugia), the Royal Palace of Genoa, the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice and Villa Pisani in Stra (Ve).
