These fake grapes just look too real: Due to the risk of confusion, a decorative items dealer from Waldbüttelbrunn in Lower Franconia (district of Würzburg) has recalled its artificial grapes.

As the Steinigke Showtechnic company reported, the green and red artificial grapes were sold nationwide.

The warning was published on Monday by the German consumer protection ministries on the websiteFoodWarning.de.

According to the company, the fake grapes are intended as decorations for restaurants, for example.

"According to a study by the health department, the items are too similar to real grapes so that children in particular could mistake them for real fruit," reported the retailer.

In the worst case, swallowing can lead to suffocation.

The decorative grapes should be returned, the purchase price will be refunded, the company assured.
