In Berlin, a 71-year-old shot his ex-partner on the street, according to the police.
As the investigators announced on Tuesday, the crime occurred on Monday afternoon on a sidewalk in the Schöneberg district.
According to initial investigations, the man fired a shot on the street in front of the Urania cultural center, seriously injuring the 45-year-old.
He then fled the scene, it said.
Paramedics took the woman to a hospital, where she underwent surgery.
According to the police, her health is stable.
The search for the suspect is ongoing, police said.
A homicide commission from the State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation into the background to the crime.
