Did you know?
Refrigerators must not be connected to the power grid immediately after transport.
Why is that - and how long you have to wait.
Just like other electrical appliances, refrigerators are among the more sensitive items that need to be transported when moving house or after purchase.
But what many people don't know is that once the refrigerator has arrived in the new apartment, it shouldn't be connected to the power supply straight away, but should be left alone for a while.
After transport or relocation, the refrigerator should stand for a while before it is switched on.

Why am I not allowed to connect refrigerators immediately after transport?
According to
chip.de
, the reason is the oil contained in the compressor.
If the refrigerator is transported lying down or tilted, oil can get into the cooling circuit.
This can even be the case if the refrigerator is transported in an upright position, because the oil can also flow into the cooling circuit due to vibrations.
If the refrigerator is then put into operation immediately, the cooling function can be damaged.
On the other hand, if the refrigerator is left standing for a while, the oil can flow back and you have nothing to worry about.

That's how long the refrigerator has to stay after a move or delivery
How long you should allow yourself to be connected to the electricity after transport varies.
To be sure, a look at the operating instructions will help.
Manufacturers usually indicate the corresponding waiting time.
According to Focus.de
, if you can no longer find the instructions, you can use the
following rule of thumb as a guide:
When transporting lying down or tilted, you should wait 12 hours before using the refrigerator.
If the refrigerator was transported upright, two to four hours are sufficient.
To be on the safe side, you should leave older devices for 24 hours before you switch on the refrigerator.
