The first images of
Mickey 17
with Robert Pattinson have been unveiled.
This is the next film from Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho (
Parasite
), which has been announced for theatrical release by Warner Bros. for March 29, 2024.
In this short extract of thirty seconds, we can see the main character, camped by the ex-Batman, in a kind of large cryogenic tube.
He then wakes up from a deep sleep, then suddenly looks at the camera.

If no summary of the film is currently available, we do know that
Mickey 17
is the adaptation of Edward Ashton's new novel
Mickey 7
, described as a high-level thriller.
Pattinson will play Mickey Barnes, an employee known as a "consumable" (an "
expendable
" in the original version): a disposable clone replaced upon his death by a new regenerated version with most of his memories intact.
Sent on a human expedition to colonize the ice world of Niflheim, he discovers on his return to base, after being left for dead, that a replacement with his features has already shown up for work.
This discovery leads him to question his existence, to forge a conscience and to fight back.
We do not know if the scenario of the film will be modeled 100% on the book.
Bong Joon-ho has often evoked the class divide and the struggle of the oppressed in his films:
Mickey 17
will in all likelihood be no exception, even if it means moving away from his original work.
In addition to Pattinson, the film will bring together Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo in the cast.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the visual effects supervisor is Dan Glass, who worked on those for The Matrix.
