Bayreuth: After attacking City Councilor Halil Tasdelen – prison sentence for 35

In July, a 35-year-old man broke the nose of Bayreuth City Councilor Halil Tasdelen with a headbutt.

Now the attacker has been convicted.

The district court of Bayreuth sentenced the man to one year and three months in prison without probation for dangerous bodily harm and insult, as a spokesman for the court announced.

In addition, the defendant undertook to pay 4,000 euros in damages to City Councilor Tasdelen and 500 euros to a non-profit association.

The verdict was made on Monday, it is not yet final, as the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" reports.

The SPD politician told the dpa news agency that he could now close the incident.

He accepted the apology of the man who had been convicted several times and also shook his hand.

He considers the verdict to be absolutely appropriate.

A week after the crime, the police arrested the man.

He was actually under the influence of drugs.

According to the information, he fully confessed in court.

However, he denied having a right-wing extremist background.
