During a complex heart catheterization operation for a 78-year-old patient at the Linson Hospital, the X-ray system, which enables the reflection of the blood vessels for the catheters, stopped working and disrupted the course of the catheterization.
Because the x-ray system did not work, the patient was left with the equipment used for catheterization inside his body when the catheterists could not continue the catheterization when they could not see what was happening inside the body and therefore also could not withdraw the equipment.
The doctors immediately began CPR on the patient, efforts which were in vain and unfortunately, the patient died.
The medical team accompanies the family, informed them with complete transparency and hugs them for the sudden loss.
The medical team itself is upset and shocked by the difficult and rare event, and is trying to digest and recover from it.
In view of the circumstances of the difficult case, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, it was decided to establish an inspection committee.
At the same time, representatives of the manufacturer of the device in Israel are checking it.
The hospital expresses deep sorrow and shares in the grief of the family.
