(ANSA) - LONDON, DECEMBER 07 - British customs officials, who are part of the Border Force, will strike at major UK airports, including the London hub of Heathrow, over the Christmas period.
This was announced by the Pcs union that represents them.
The strikes will take place from 23 to 26 and from 28 to 31 December and will affect the airports of Birmingham, Cardiff, Gatwick, Glasgow, Heathrow, Manchester and also the port of Newhaven.
According to Mark Serwotka, general secretary of the PCS union which represents many civil servants, the mobilization will have a "significant impact" on passport control at British airports run by Border Force officials.
"We are in a full crisis", said the union leader, referring to the need to adjust the salaries of civil servants - many of them in serious economic difficulties - to record inflation in the United Kingdom.
He added: "The government can stop these strikes tomorrow if it puts the money on the table."
