There will be over 13 million people traveling to Italian tourist destinations during the Immaculate Conception holiday.

This was revealed by a survey conducted by Cna Turismo e Commercio among members from all over Italy.

Many vacationers will go to second homes.

And numerous also those who will limit the "pause" to the time of a day trip.

But about two million people, weather permitting, will spend the night in accommodation facilities.

Of these 1.3 million Italians and 700 thousand foreigners.

Overall, the economic movement generated by activities directly or indirectly linked to tourism between Wednesday 7 December afternoon and Sunday 11 December will amount to four billion euros.

A figure that would allow Italy to surpass the results of 2019, the last year before the pandemic.

Cities of art, mountain resorts, Christmas markets, experiential activities, spas and centers of food and wine excellence will be the main points of attraction.

Also appreciate the countryside and regenerating walks, perhaps to enjoy the latest foliage displays.

The "sold out" is expected for the hotels of the most famous tourist resorts but B&Bs and farmhouses will also be crowded.

The average overnight stay of foreign tourists will be between 3 and 4 nights.

For Italians it will drop between 2 and 3 nights.

Italy is confirmed as a popular destination for international travellers, it also holds domestic tourism and

hotel facilities reach an average occupancy rate of 70%

.

An important test that bodes well in anticipation of the upcoming Christmas holidays.

This was revealed by the Italian Confindustria Hotel Association.

The USA is confirmed as the leading long-range market thanks also to the still very favorable euro-dollar exchange rate.

As far as proximity tourism is concerned, France, Germany and the United Kingdom choose Italy, preferring, in this particular period of the year, hotels in cities of art but not only.

Rome and Turin are still in the top positions with an average occupancy rate of 75%, Milan too

in the 5-star segment registers levels slightly above the national average, followed by

Florence and Venice

which stop at 65 and 45% respectively.

While awaiting the restart of the mountains, the trend of holidays in nature and the recovery of inland areas is confirmed, in particular Umbria shows an average occupancy figure that is close to 90%.
