The Christmas program of the friars of the Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi is underway.
Thursday 8 December at 5 pm the Holy Mass will be held in the lower church presided over by the Custos of the Sacred Convent of Assisi, fra Marco Moroni, OFMConv, followed by the blessing of the crib and the lighting of the Christmas tree in the square at 6.10 pm in front of the Basilica.
This year's theme is water and climate change.
The evening will be cheered by a choir of about 100 children from Assisi and the province of Trento who will sing traditional Christmas songs.
This year the tree and the crib were donated by the Municipality of Romeno (TN).
The Christmas tree, installed in the lower square of the Basilica of San Francesco, is a 14-metre white fir that comes from the forests of the Municipality of Romeno and was chosen by the provincial Forestry Corps to encourage the natural renewal of the forest
