Also known as the "Saint of impossible cases" because she teaches that, if we entrust ourselves to God, anything can happen.
Many people turn to her, especially women, the sick and families, who trust in her intercession to overcome the obstacles in her life.
Santa Rita da Cascia, born Margherita Lotti (Roccaporena, 1371/81 - Cascia, 1447/57), is among the most revered saints.
Rita da Cascia is "one of us" they say from the monastery that houses her relics in the small Umbrian village.
She was canonized by the Church in 1900.
Tradition has it that on the night between 21 and 22 May 1447 (according to other sources in 1457), the bells rang alone "to tell everyone that Rita had ascended to heaven".
And the people, from the poorest to the richest, flocked up to the Monastery (which was then dedicated to Santa Maria Maddalena) to pay homage to the holy body.
So many people arrived, for days and days, that the nuns were unable to bury them, as instead happened for the other sisters when they died.
Everyone wanted to venerate what was already considered a saint.
Everyone wanted to see her.
All pray to God before her, to ask for her intercession.
