Deliver parcels by Christmas – DHL changes delivery at short notice

Parcel services are at full capacity during the Christmas season.

That's why DHL is currently excluding a payment method from shipping to your home.

Dortmund – Shortly before Christmas, as usual, there is a lot of shopping going on.

In order not to have to go into the crowds of retailers, many conveniently order their Christmas presents from online shops.

However, DHL has currently restricted delivery for one payment method.

The pre-Christmas period demands a lot from the parcel services, including DHL.

More packages are sent and delivered than in any other season.

In order to relieve the suppliers and minimize shipping delays at DHL, the parcel service has set up special rules.

These only apply to the period of so-called “heavy traffic”.

If you order products and gifts online, you can usually choose between different payment methods.

Deutsche Post doesn't really care whether DHL customers, who fall victim to phishing mails just before Christmas, later pay by invoice, transfer the amount directly with PayPal or order by direct debit.

But a payment method costs suppliers valuable time.

When ordering cash on delivery, payment is made in cash at the front door.

DHL does not offer this service during the busy Christmas period, as RUHR24 reports.

Although customers can still order cash on delivery, the package will then no longer be delivered to the front door.

"To relieve our delivery staff in these weeks of the year, which are particularly busy, money has been delivered directly to the post office since the beginning of November," DHL explained to RUHR24.
