(ANSA) - BERLIN, DECEMBER 08 - The trial on the Wirecard case began today in Munich, the company hit by the biggest financial scandal due to fraud in Germany since 1945, which went bankrupt two and a half years ago.
The proceeding against MarkusBraun, former CEO of the group, and two other accomplices, was opened by judge Morkus Foedisch.
The three are accused of falsifying financial statements and defrauding creditors for a sum of 3.1 billion euros.
The Chamber of the Court has scheduled 100 sessions until 2024. Before the start of the trial, Braun, with his defense, had rejected the accusations, claiming that he had not participated in the fraud and that he himself was the victim of a criminal gang.
