"Düsseldorf table" 2023: child support increases by up to 70 euros per month

From January 1, 2023, according to the "Düsseldorf Table", children of separation will be entitled to slightly more maintenance.

The deductibles are also increased for the new year.

Minors as well as children of separation who are of age are entitled to higher maintenance from the new year.

At the same time, the personal needs of the maintenance debtors are increased.

This emerges from the new so-called Düsseldorf table, which the Higher Regional Court (OLG) of the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital published on December 5th.

New "Düsseldorf Table": More minimum maintenance from January 1, 2023

In the income bracket of up to 1,900 euros, the minimum maintenance for children aged up to five will increase from January 1 by 41 to 437 euros compared to the previous year.

For children from six to eleven there is then 502 euros and thus 47 euros more.

For children from 12 to 17 years it is a total of 588 euros - 55 euros more.

The rates also increase for adult children and in other income groups.

The minimum maintenance for children of separation has been adjusted for 2023.

"Düsseldorf table" - not a law, but a guideline

The "Düsseldorf Table" is the guideline for all higher regional courts in Germany for determining and assessing child support.

It has been published by the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court since 1979.

The Maintenance Commission of the German Family Court Day is also involved in its creation.

However, it does not have a legally binding effect.

Child support increases by up to 70 euros per month

The requirement rate for students who do not live with their parents or one of their parents climbs from 860 to 930 euros on January 1st, and thus by 70 euros.

This includes 410 euros in warm rent, as the OLG further announced.

Depending on the parents' position in life, the minimum requirement can vary upwards.

The full amount of child benefit is usually offset against the maintenance requirement for children of full age, and half for minors.

Child benefit is set to rise to 250 euros in the coming year.

The deductibles, i.e. the minimum that must remain for those obliged to pay maintenance, will also be increased in the new year: by 160 euros to 1,120 euros for those who are not employed and by 210 euros to 1,370 euros for employed debtors.

The Düsseldorf table contains 15 income groups up to a net income of the person liable for maintenance of 11,000 euros.
