The crime happened on November 19, but the full extent has only now become known: two men stole up to 32 million euros when they broke into a vault in Berlin's Charlottenburg district.
The Berlin public prosecutor's office confirmed on Friday that a corresponding sum had been reported as damage.
The cryptocurrency magazine »BTC-Echo« had previously reported.
It was originally reported that the incident on Fasanenstrasse in Berlin caused damage of ten million euros.
Accordingly, the suspects had stolen around 1,000 luxury watches from the lockers, which had been stored there by a start-up.
Their value alone was estimated at around ten million euros.
€25,000 reward offered
The additional 22 million euros is said to relate to the value of the contents of numerous other lockers rented by private customers in the vaults, which were also cracked in November.
The police have been looking for the perpetrators since Friday with new videos and photos.
The investigators are also hoping for new clues from images from a surveillance camera.
They should show the suspects buying the alleged murder vehicle.
In total, rewards of 25,000 euros are being offered for the transfer of the suspects.
Watches, gold, money and jewelry as loot
The burglary on November 19 was well planned, police said.
Disguised as security guards, the perpetrators came in the morning and sprayed the lenses of the surveillance cameras with paint.
In the evening they broke into the depot of the well-known luxury watch company and numerous privately rented safe deposit boxes and escaped with watches, gold, money, jewelry and other valuables.
