(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, DEC 09 - Alexander Kueng, the former Minneapolis police officer who pinned the African American George Floyd to the ground while his colleague Derek Chauvin suffocated him by pressing his neck with a knee for nearly 10 minutes, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
The former policeman had pleaded guilty in October to the state charge of aiding Floyd's killing and had already been sentenced to 3 years at the federal level for violating the African American's civil rights.
State and federal sentences will be served concurrently.
Kueng watched the verdict read out via videoconference from the federal prison in Ohio, where he is currently being held.
