During anti-regime demonstrations, Iranian security forces shot women at close range in the face, eyes, chest and genitals. And the first death sentence for the protests was carried out: Mohsen Shekari, 23, was hanged after being found guilty of 'enmity against God'. Tajani: 'Point of no return in Iran'. Hanged at dawn just over a month after the death sentence.

Mohsen Shekari, 23, was arrested for participating in anti-government protests that have been rocking Iran for nearly three months.

He was found guilty of "enmity against God," for "blocking a road, drawing a weapon with intent to kill, and intentionally wounding an officer while on duty."

The facts date back to the end of September, when demonstrations for Mahsa Amini had exploded a few days ago, the 22-year-old of Kurdish origin who died from being beaten to her head while she was in the custody of the moral police because she was not wearing the veil correctly .

The boy's family members, who had appealed the death sentence,

they learned that the sentence had been carried out while waiting to hear from him outside the prison where he was being held.

The body, the uncle said, was not handed over to his relatives.

Shekari's execution is the first known execution of a protester, although some activists believe that more have already taken place and that 11 other people were sentenced to death, including Fahimeh Karimi, a volleyball coach and mother of three small children.

In recent days, the Iranian judiciary confirmed the death penalty for five people, for having stabbed to death a member of the Basij paramilitary forces on November 3 in Karaj, during tough clashes between protesters and the forces of order.

"We run the risk of having executions of protesters every day," said Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam,

director of the NGO Iran Human Rights based in Oslo, calling for initiatives at an international level.

Amnesty International has also launched an appeal for the Iranian authorities to "immediately end the planned executions and stop using the death penalty as a tool for political repression against protesters".

According to the NGO, the young man was sentenced in a "show trial, grossly unfair", while the Iranian judiciary said the sentence came after the boy had admitted his crimes in court.

A "confession" that according to activists and dissident media based abroad, was coerced, since the videos in which the young man admits his guilt, broadcast by television channels linked to the Revolutionary Guards,

The protests, which have been underway since September, continued today, albeit in a few cities, but had instead intensified in recent days, still encountering a harsh reaction from the security forces.

The agents also repressed the demonstrations by shooting women from close range and hitting them in the face, eyes, breasts and genitals.

This was reported to the Guardian by Iranian doctors from various cities of the country who treat the wounded in secret to avoid arrest: they say they are now traumatized by the bodies of the women they see arriving.

While the government is taking a very hard line on the protests, the death sentence handed down today has drawn sharp criticism from the United States and Europe, including Italy.

"It is a point of no return", warned Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani,

assuring that "we will continue in every forum, with our diplomatic pressure, to defend freedom and human rights violated by Tehran".

Harsh sentences also came from France, Germany and Great Britain.

For Washington it was "a sinister escalation of the regime's attempts to eliminate all criticism and repress demonstrations", for which the US "will hold the regime to account".

Tehran responded with a counterattack.

“In countering the riots, Iran has shown the utmost restraint, and unlike many Western regimes that vilify and violently repress even peaceful protesters, Iran has employed proportionate and standard riot control methods. The same goes for the judicial process : moderation and proportionality",
