24-hour strike yesterday for more than a thousand journalists and other employees of the New York Times, the first of its kind in the famous newspaper in over 40 years.
The cause is the lack of agreement for the renewal of the contract after it expired in March 2021. Among the nodes are the increase in salaries and remote work policies.
"It's never an easy decision to refuse to do work you love, but our members are keen to do what it takes to make a better newsroom for everyone," tweeted New York's NewsGuild, the historic union of journalists in the Great Britain Apple.
"It is disappointing that they are taking this extreme action when we are not at an impasse" in the negotiations, NYT spokeswoman Danielle Rhoades Ha commented for her part.
Members of the live-news desk also joined the strike,
in charge of breaking news.
For employees of the newspaper a meeting outside the offices of the newspaper, near Times Square.
