Swabia and Bavaria agree on this: No mayo, please!
Christmas is in two weeks, so it's high time to start thinking about this year's celebratory dinner.
Do you surprise your loved ones with a new recipe or do you keep it classic and serve what is available every year?
You would definitely not be alone, because according to surveys, many Germans
traditionally
like it on Christmas Eve.
There is what has always been.
The most popular food:
Sausages with potato salad
.
The simple dish is served by almost every
fifth
person, closely followed by
raclette
or
fondue
.
Since there is an invisible potato salad border
through Germany
pulls, we brought a southern German recipe for you today.
Classic with broth and please without mayo.
There will be tomorrow.
That's how it's done:
These ingredients are required:
500 g waxy potatoes
1 tbsp salt
Dressing:
2 tbsp vegetable oil
100 g onions, diced
150 ml broth
5 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp white wine vinegar
1 tbsp medium hot mustard
Salt
pepper
1 tablespoon of sugar
30 g parsley, chopped
The preparation is simple:
Wash the potatoes, boil them in their skins with 1 tablespoon of salt, peel and cut into thin slices.
Tip: Peeling is easier when the potatoes are still hot.
Cutting better when the potatoes are cold.
For the dressing:
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pan and sauté the onions until translucent.
Deglaze with 150 ml broth and bring to the boil briefly.
Pour over the potato slices while still warm.
Add the vegetable oil, white wine vinegar, mustard, salt, pepper and sugar and mix gently.
Alternatively: Mix the onion broth in a separate bowl with the remaining dressing ingredients and then pour over the potato slices.
Leave for 30 minutes.
Sprinkle with parsley, mix again and serve lukewarm.
Good appo!
