(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 10 - The actions of NGOs "often risky and provocative in many cases favor the entry into Italy of economic migrants who have no right to enter and remain in Italy. This is regardless of the declared humanitarian intentions".
So sources of the Interior Ministry, adding that "the NGOs represent a factor that encourages migrants to leave.
They patrol systematically.
They bring migrants collected in waters of other countries into Italian waters.
At sea they pick up people who have paid a smuggler, therefore a criminal, to enter Italy illegally". people, the sources point out, "will always guide the government's decisions, even in the face of provocative and risky actions by NGOs.
The Government's line is clear: 1) fight against irregular immigration;
2) insertion and integration of regular migrants, with specific agreements with the countries of transit and of departure". Those who enter Italy, they continue, "often do not flee from dangerous situations.
Think of the ship Louise Michel which collected about thirty people at sea, all coming, from an initial examination, from situations that qualify them as economic migrants.
They don't come from martyred countries, they set off without any right to enter and stay in Italy.
Now we will have to take charge of it from the point of view of assistance, even though we are not required to do so and with the scarce results achieved so far in terms of European solidarity". (ANSA).
