The monarch visited, this Friday, December 9, Wrexham Association Football Club, whose actor Ryan Reynolds has been the proud owner since 2021. The unlikely duo discussed the future of this oldest Welsh club.


While the United Kingdom protests against the shock documentary entitled

Meghan and Harry

, available on Netflix since December 8, King Charles III continues his royal marathon.

This Friday, December 9, he had an appointment in the north of the country to visit the Wrexham Association Football Club, and discuss with its leaders its future.

Accompanied by his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, the sovereign crossed the lawn of the football field to greet the club's players.

He was accompanied by actor Ryan Reynolds and his sidekick Rob McElhenney.

And for good reason, the latter are the happy owners of the Welsh club, which they bought in February 2021. A feat for these two actors, without any football knowledge, wishing to take up the challenge of saving the oldest Welsh club.

Their first objective: to move the team from fifth to fourth division.

Released last August, the documentary

Welcome to Wrexham

, had also staged their first steps as owners of the Wrexham Association Football Club.

As such, Ryan Reynolds allowed himself a little wink on his Instagram account, in the caption of the photos taken with King Charles III.

“Welcome to Wrexham Season 2,” he wrote.

reported , Ryan Reynolds was very excited about the visit from the monarch and his wife.

“I would say we are incredibly excited to welcome him to the grounds of the racecourse, this historic church which resides in the heart of Wrexham and is the heart of Wrexham,” he explained.

And to continue: “Rob and I said very early on, and this remains true for the rest of our lives, that we would do anything to raise this community and this club, and the visit of the king is certainly a way of doing it.

For sure.

I am very enthusiastic."

For his part, it would seem that the 73-year-old sovereign, with a sharp sense of humor, cracked a little joke, to lighten the atmosphere.

"It's real grass, isn't it, not that plastic thing?" he reportedly asked.
