(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 10 - Frank Heppner, a star chef whose daughter is the partner of Real Madrid footballer David Alaba and a former police officer once in charge of protecting Jewish communities from terrorist attacks are among the latest people arrested for their involvement in the foiled coup plot in Germany, where more arrests are awaited.

The Guardian writes it.

Details emerging after Germany's largest police operation against right-wing extremism indicate that suspects may have been tipped off in advance of the raids, in which 3,000 officers searched 150 sites across Germany, Austria and Italy.

The number of suspects in handcuffs rose to 54 on Friday.

Weapons have been found in more than 50 locations, including rifles and ammunition, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office.

The group, inspired by the Reichsbürger's ideology that the modern German state is illegitimate, planned to storm the Reichstag building and arrest MPs before overthrowing the government and installing a regime headed by a 71-year-old aristocrat, Heinrich XIII, prince of Reuss.

Heppner was arrested on Wednesday at a five-star hotel in the Austrian ski resort of Kitzbühel where he worked.

He would be a commanding member of the terrorist group's military arm, responsible for recruiting new members, obtaining weapons and other equipment, as well as building a wiretap-proof communication and IT structure.

He was also in charge of running the canteen which would provide meals for members of the so-called "New German Army".

The Austrian newspaper Die Presse, citing investigators, said Heppner, 62, would also be Heinrich XIII's personal cook after he was installed as king.

Heppner's 28-year-old daughter Shalimar is in a relationship with Alaba, a Real Madrid footballer and captain of the Austrian national team.

The couple have a son born in 2019.

Among others suspected of having been part of the group was a former police officer tasked with protecting Jewish communities from terrorist attacks, Michael Fritsch.
