The Swiss Marco Odermatt, in 1'01"89, is in the lead after the first run of the giant slalom of the Alpine Ski World Cup in Val d'Isere (France), which takes place along the steep and very demanding Olympic slope Face of Bellevarde. Behind him the Austrian MAnuel Feller in 1'02"34 and the German Alexander Schmid in 1'03"08. Luca De Aliprandini from Trentino, fourth last year in this race, finished off after an all on the attack, thus repeating what already happened in the first giant of the season in Soelden. The best blue after the first 30 athletes at the start is Giovanni Borsotti, who finished with a decent 1'04"70, i.e. 15th place.
He competed with imperfect visibility for the first athletes at the start, on an icy surface,
but very rough and difficult after the work to remove the snow that has fallen in the last few hours.
Second run at 12.30.
