In the early morning several wagons of a car train derailed on the way to Westerland.
As the "Hamburger Abendblatt" reports, no more car trains run between Niebüll and the island.
According to Deutsche Bahn, it is not foreseeable how long the blockage will last.
So far it is unclear why the wagons derailed when maneuvering.
The "Hamburger Abendblatt" quoted a spokesman for the Federal Police, who named a frozen switch as a possible cause.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
Although traffic with car trains was paralyzed on the route, this did not affect passenger traffic.
