The chosen one appeared with a royal blue polo shirt with rainbow sleeves, a symbol of the LGBTQ+ community, on Saturday December 10, during the France-England match in Qatar.

Several political figures have worn, in their own way, the colors of the LGBTQ+ community, in the stands of the World Cup in Qatar.

At the end of November, the former leader of Denmark, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, appeared during the Denmark-Tunisia match wearing a dress with rainbow sleeves.

This Saturday, December 10, on the occasion of the France-England shock, won by the Blues, the Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, in turn equipped herself with a royal blue polo shirt with multicolored sleeves.

"One Love"

A gesture to protest against the host country of the football competition, where homosexuality and sexual relations outside marriage are still punishable by several years of imprisonment or even the death penalty.

As a reminder, eight Western European federations had considered having their captain wear a "One Love" rainbow armband, in support of human rights, before giving up on it, for fear of receiving sanctions from FIFA (

International Federation of Association Football, NLDR

).

This caused many controversies around the competition.

It is also in this context that the German team had put their hands in front of their mouths, at the time of the official pre-match photo, on November 23rd.

A symbolic gesture to challenge the attack on their freedom of expression.

Olivier Giroud, man of the match

The Minister of Sports, for her part, kept her polo shirt on throughout the confrontation and even in the locker rooms of the players of the France team, to congratulate them on their victory against England.

On her Twitter account, she notably posted a photo with French striker Olivier Giroud.

“Our warrior.

Our man of the match.

Always at the service of the collective.

Bravo les Bleus and bravo Olivier Giroud”, she wrote on the social network.

In another tweet, the latter confirmed that she would be present, next Wednesday, December 14, for the semi-final history which will oppose France and Morocco, the first African country to reach such a high level in the World Cup.

An opportunity that the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, will not miss.
