(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 12 - With the death of Russian president Vladimir Putin, the war in Ukraine would end.
Supporting it is Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, interviewed by David Letterman for his Netflix show "No introduction needed".
"Suppose Putin catches a bad cold and dies, accidentally falls out of a window and dies. Would the war continue?" Letterman asks Zelensky during the interview.
"No", replies the Ukrainian leader dryly.
"There would be no war, no."
"The authoritarian regime is dangerous because it involves great risks. You cannot allow just one to have control over everything. Because, when he fails, the institutions stop", explains Zelensky in the interview, recorded in October in Kiev, 300 meters depth on a platform of the subway.. "That's how it went in the Soviet Union, everything collapsed. That's why I think that, if he's gone, they'll have a hard time. They'll have to deal with domestic politics rather than foreign affairs", underlines the leader Ukrainian.
