After a collision with a van, a Deutsche Bahn ICE partially jumped off the rails in Hamburg on Tuesday morning.

The train had to be evacuated.

As reported by the fire brigade, the first reports of a derailed train triggered a large-scale deployment of rescue workers.

Ultimately, however, there were no injuries.

According to the information, the driver had also gotten to safety in good time.

There were 105 passengers in the ICE.

According to the fire brigade, the accident happened at a level crossing with half barriers in the Rönneburg district in the extreme south of Hamburg on the border with Lower Saxony.

The car was therefore a minibus used by craftsmen.

This was completely destroyed by the collision with the ICE, a front axle of the power car jumped out of the rails.

Federal police determined

Since the train could no longer continue, rescuers from the fire brigade got the passengers out of the ICE via a wagon door that was at the level of the level crossing.

According to the information, buses from the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund HVV brought the people to the Hamburg-Harburg train station, from where they could continue their journey.

A spokesman for the Federal Police said that it is now being determined why the vehicle was standing on the level crossing.

The driver stated that his tires hit the rails and got stuck.

The federal police are now investigating dangerous interventions in rail traffic.

According to Deutsche Bahn, the route between Hamburg and Bremen near Meckelfeld in the Harburg district was closed.
