A TikTok user regularly inspires with videos from her garden.

But not everything is always “sunshine” – her potatoes have seen better days, she admits.

Actually, Kait can be satisfied with this year's harvest.

For weeks, the TikTok user has delighted her almost 60,000 followers with her harvest successes from her own garden.

But even such an experienced hobby gardener sometimes has bad luck.

What also makes her likeable: The TikTok user doesn't hold back, but shows her followers what happened.

TikTok user explains: Potatoes don't like waterlogging

According to her, she had had a premonition for weeks that her potatoes would be very puny this year.

She even refers to it as a "potato fail" under the video.

Then she shows the potatoes in the bed, which actually look a bit puny, and explains what she thinks she did wrong.

Accordingly, the TikTok user has never had problems in the past, but changed two things this year.

She launched both at the same time, which "wouldn't have been the best idea," she adds.

The first thing she did was install a new automatic watering system so she no longer has to worry about it when she travels.

Finally, she changed the container in which the potatoes are located.

She usually uses plant bags, which ensure that the soil inside is evenly aerated and that water can drain off easily.

But with her new approach, Kait's potatoes got too much water, with the result that waterlogging must have formed.

After all, she was only able to harvest a few baby potatoes this year, but she is sure that they will also taste "delicious".

TikTok users say thank you for tips

Her followers are thrilled with so much honesty from the TikTok user.

The video has already received 36,500 views, over 2,500 likes and countless comments.

Many say thank you for Kait's tips or even give some themselves.

Here is a selection:

  • "Never judge a book by its cover!"

  • "Yeah, baby potatoes!

🥰 I accidentally planted some in the bed with my two-year-old and got small ones too, but I like them too!

    🥰

  • "Maybe next year you should just cut big holes or cut out the bottom entirely and use the grow bag like that.

    Resembles a drain?”

  • "Thank you for the information.

I also want to plant potatoes next season.”

  • "Grow them right in the bed and you'll get great results."

  • "I thought it was recommended not to put rocks at the bottom of the container.

I always thought it would drain the water better, but I think it's almost the opposite."
