Control the heating correctly: Every degree less saves heating energy

Which method is the most economical ultimately depends on various factors.

For example, the fuel used for heating plays a major role.

And the insulation of the apartment or the size of the home are also decisive.

In general, however, savings are made the lower the heating is set.

According to the Federal Environment Agency, every degree of room temperature increases the heating bill and every degree less saves heating energy.

But does it therefore make sense to completely cut off the heat supply as soon as you are not in the apartment for a few hours?

Better not, advise experts from the heating technology company Vaillant.

It costs a lot of energy to heat up cold rooms again.

It is better to lower the room temperature by a few degrees.

In order to avoid cold damage in winter, the minimum temperature should not fall below 16 degrees.

Turning off the heating completely can therefore drive up heating costs because more energy is required to heat up cold rooms again.

Similar to the so-called night reduction, which usually ensures between midnight and 6 a.m. that the heating water flows through the heating surfaces at a lower temperature and the room temperature is kept at 16-18 degrees Celsius, the heating should not be switched off completely when you leave the apartment switched off, but only turned down.

Heating also prevents cold damage and mold growth.

To be on the safe side, the temperature in the entire apartment should be at least 15 degrees, even if you are going to be away for a longer period of time, for example on winter vacation.

Experts also recommend modern heating technology with smart controls.
