(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 15 - After having received more than 850 million from the Draghi government, the former Ilva of Taranto, "is in serious financial difficulty and in a serious production situation".
Made in Italy minister Adolfo Urso said this during the question time in the Senate.
The Italian steel giant, which passed to Acciaieried'Italia, the subsidiary of the Anglo-Indian multinational ArcelorMittal "It has a debt burden of several million euros to various companies including Snam and Eni", said Urso.
The production situation is serious, having collapsed from 10 million tons in 2005 to 3 million in 2021. "The objective of the industrial plan was 6 million", added the minister.
"The state cannot be an ATM, it cannot give money without a clear industrial plan to halt the decline" of the Taranto steel mill.
"We are rightly alarmed, with these numbers we cannot go forward, fate is sealed," said Urso.
But he also added "We do not accept the decline of Ilva, we will not nationalize it, but an industrial plan must be created immediately".
