This garlic trick could clear your nose, especially during the flu season.

But what about the Garlicinnose Challenge?

What started out as a TikTok trend actually seems like a good solution to a stuffy nose.

The "Garlicinnose" Challenge, translated simply as "garlic nose", is intended to ensure a free olfactory bulb, according to the Internet.

In fact, various videos are appearing on TikTok, but also on other platforms on the Internet, of how mostly young people are shoving garlic up their noses.

The sight that follows just a few moments later is mostly rather unsavory.

In addition to this amazing trend, there are other useful tricks.

For example, you should freeze tea lights in the freezer.

How long the garlic cloves stay in this amazing place varies.

We're talking about 10 to 15 minutes.

What follows is even provided with a trigger warning in some videos.

After the garlic cloves are pulled out of the nostrils, the unappetizing part follows immediately. Summary: The nose “runs” freely.

But does that really work?

What does medicine say about this garlic trend?

24hamburg.de now reports: Doctor Dr.

Richard Wender of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania has expressed skepticism to the "insider".

Wender said in the interview: "Evidence is important and it would be wrong to say that we have done extensive research on garlic in noses.

But in general, garlic itself and the chemicals in garlic don't interact much with human tissues.” Perhaps more interestingly, the garlic cloves could have a negative effect.

The garlic could irritate the nostrils and thus be less effective than the videos initially suggested.

But the doctor also gives the all-clear immediately if you have already tried the trend.

"I don't think putting garlic in your nose once will harm your nasal mucosa," the doctor told Insider.

Richard Wender continues, "But once you get into the habit, there is at least a concern that repeatedly inserting garlic into the inner part of the nostril could cause inflammation [which] can cause bleeding and thin the mucus."

On the videos, however, you can see how a lot of mucus suddenly runs out of the nose after removing the garlic cloves.

The doctor also has an explanation for this.

The nose may have mucus buildup due to irritation from the garlic.

This cannot leak out because the nostrils are blocked.

After removing the nasal mucus runs out.
