Brazilian Adriano Pedrosa is set to curate the 60th edition of the Venice Art Biennale in 2024.
The board decided on the recommendation of President Roberto Cicutto.
Pedrosa is currently artistic director of Brazil's important art museum Museu de Arte in the metropolitan city of São Paulo.
The 57-year-old has curated other biennials in the South American country in the past.
He was co-curator of the 27th Bienal de São Paulo (2006), artistic director of the 2nd Trienal de San Juan (2009) and co-curator of the 12th Istanbul Biennial.
Pedrosa is known for his competence as a “valued curator”, explained Biennale director Cicutto.
Pedrosa said he was honored to be the first Latin American to curate the international art exhibition (April 20-November 24), according to the statement.
