(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, DECEMBER 15 - "The accusations involving the European Parliament are a blow to democracy and to everything we have worked on for many years. It takes years to build trust, but only a moment to break it down".
The president of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola said it on arriving at the European Council.
She will give "the message that there will be no impunity, there will be no sweeping under the rug, there will be no business as usual".
"I will do everything I can to restore the position of the House of Democracy, of the legislator, of a clean, transparent and decision-making institution that is not for sale to foreign actors."
