With many pediatric surgeries being overwhelmed, parents can temporarily postpone certain checkups for their children.
The examinations U6 to U9 for children from one to six years can initially also be carried out after the planned times and tolerance times, as the Federal Joint Committee of doctors, clinics and health insurance companies announced on Thursday.
He stipulated this in an exemption valid until March 31, 2023.
Postponed early detection examinations can therefore be made up for until June 30, 2023.
Periods remain for U1 to U5
The longer periods are intended to relieve doctors and families in the current strong wave of respiratory infections.
Many children's practices and children's wards are currently extremely overcrowded.
Experts report, among other things, an enormous wave of infections with the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which can be dangerous for babies (read more here).

The Federal Joint Committee explained that the check-ups U1 to U5 for babies should continue to be carried out in the planned periods and tolerance times.
In the first six months of the child's life, regular medical care is required in order to be able to identify and treat abnormalities in development as early as possible.
As usual, the decision of the Federal Joint Committee will be examined by the Federal Ministry of Health and will then come into force retrospectively as of December 15, 2022.
