board and miniatures company Games Workshop announced Friday an agreement with Amazon to make films and television productions based on its Warhammer 40,000 universe.

", a subsidiary of the American giant, which will develop "
film and television productions
" from its universe, announced the company founded in 1975 in a press release.
Even before the signing of the final contracts, "
Amazon will begin certain development activities (such as holding preliminary discussions with writers) in order to facilitate the project
", specifies the press release, which does not give any details on the amounts in sight.

The news was welcomed by investors: Games Workshop soared 14.86% to 8385 pence around 11:40 GMT on the London Stock Exchange.

The company manufactures tens of millions of figurines each year in the United Kingdom, sold in 5,000 shops around the world, the group indicates on its website.
