According to the Bundeswehr, it is committed to society and the future.

A multifaceted undertaking – is this also reflected in the earning potential?

The German Bundeswehr employs more than 260,000 people, including soldiers, civil servants and doctors.

Some work in uniform, others in civilian clothes - they are deployed within Germany and around the world.

On its own website, the Bundeswehr has described its goal as follows: “We.

To serve.

Germany.” In doing so, the employees sometimes put themselves in danger.

What are the earning potential and possible allowances in the Bundeswehr?

One of the differences in Bundeswehr employees is that they do not receive a salary but a salary.

The salary is made up of the rank or the office awarded and the salary group.

The salary is paid monthly and free of social and pension insurance contributions.

In addition, there may be possible surcharges:

  • Family allowance for marriage, registered partnership and/or children

  • Hardship allowances (service at inconvenient and/or changing times, allowances for diving activities, allowances for handling ammunition and explosives or working in special groups)

There may also be performance-related allowances, which are then added to the basic salary.

Servicewomen and men usually start in the first salary level and then move up a level over a certain period of time, usually every two to four years.

Grade B is for senior posts, such as directors or sea captains.

There are no longer any different levels in this group – it is only divided into B1 to B11.

A staggered basic salary of EUR 6,756.13 (B1) to EUR 14,157.33 (B11) is paid between these areas.

Employer Bundeswehr: Employees evaluate their salary on the Internet

Current and former employees can rate their employer on the

Kununu

career portal.

Individual current statuses can be described there and opportunities for improvement can be identified.

The Bundeswehr is also listed there as an employer – and can therefore be assessed.

However, the details are personal assessments that cannot be checked for accuracy by our editorial team.

  • User: "The security of the job, the variety of tasks.

The issue of national security is actually quite important, my personal interest in it was a decisive factor in my choice of employer.”

  • User about work-life balance: "It's almost overemphasized, sometimes it has nothing to do with serving faithfully, but rather with a comfort zone at the expense of the taxpayer."

  • User on communication: "Communication doesn't happen here.

It's nothing new if, from top to bottom, only 1% of the actual message gets through to regular soldiers.

Nobody knows who is doing what or who is responsible for something.”

  • User about superior behavior: "Partly very unfriendly behavior of the management in the underground facility.

Little or no training is given to new employees, everyone is required to function immediately.”
